There were two of the thick-knees walking among the cows. This is in the dry area of CR close to the Pacific ocean. I added the last shot because I thought it was a bit fun and showed a little of the situation.

A very interesting looking bird.
SvaraRaderaI've seen a few thick-knee species, but never that one, I think. They are cool birds and always look either terminally bored/disapproving or outraged.
SvaraRaderaA lovely bird to see and thanks for the info... I love the composition of the last image.
SvaraRaderaLove the cattle in the background. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
SvaraRaderaAmazing eyes.
SvaraRaderaNever seen these before.
Great photos and an interesting bird. It's similar to the ones we have out here.
SvaraRaderaglad u liked it. :)
SvaraRaderaGreat photos! That's another bird I've never seen before.
SvaraRaderaIncredible bird, another new one on me also! Love that last shot with the cow. It certainly adds context. Funny too! Cheers to you!
SvaraRaderaA beautiful bird and a very healthy Brahma cow too. I'm glad you added her, it puts the bird in perspective.
SvaraRaderaA fascinating bird -- funny shot with the cow too!
SvaraRaderaCool bird! I love the eyes!
SvaraRaderaI also like the Cow in the last photo. Cool!
SvaraRaderaYou would think that bird would be terrified of the huge cow, but no! Very cool pics.
SvaraRadera:)
