The Jaribu is a large stork. Acc to the book it is132 cm in hight. The Great Egret comes to 99 cm in height. That is why the white egrets are the Great ones and not Cattle egrets as I thought at first.

Ja det är en praktfågel , med ett unikt utseende med det svarta huvudet och den röda teckningen på halsen. Jösses!
SvaraRaderaI had not heard of the Jabiru before, they are striking birds.
SvaraRaderaNever heard of them...
SvaraRaderaVery interesting bird. The Black-necked Stork out here in Australia used to be called a Jabiru also but it is quite different from the ones in your photos. Great photos.
SvaraRaderainteresting photos of your jabiru
SvaraRaderaI have never seen a Jabiru! What an odd, but neat looking stork!
SvaraRaderaVery impressive!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
SvaraRaderaA bird I was unaware of...so thanks for sharing your lovely images and info.
SvaraRaderaa fabulous looking bird!
SvaraRaderaWhat a cool looking stork! Awesome photos and captures.
SvaraRaderaWhat an amazing bird, not just the size but the beak, neck and legs as well. A fantastic bird indeed. Thank you for sharing this wonder of the world with the rest of us.
SvaraRaderaThis has got to be one of the great bird blogs going. These tropical birds like the Jabiru are beyond imagination. The last shot of the road ties this brilliant post up and puts it all into perspective. It had to be great standing there and seeing these scenes with your own eyes. Good for you for giving yourself this tremendous experience in Costa Rica. Thank you again for sharing these amazing sights!
SvaraRaderaCheers!
A beautiful, if unusual-looking, bird!
SvaraRaderaSpringman, thanks for the nice comment. :)
